Of all the advice that you’ve been bombarded with in your life, there are a few tips that will forever stand the test of time: don’t judge a book by its cover, don’t put off until tomorrow what can be done today, and, for goodness sakes, keep that radio a safe distance from the bathtub. As far as your wardrobe goes, there are just as many life lessons to learn, and they are certainly of equal importance.

At Sharp, we’re chock full of helpful style hints and consider it our prerogative to pass them on to you. Got a tie question? Not sure what shoes to wear with that blazer? Come now, we’ll give you a hand.

My wife always says my clothes look too baggy. What do I do about this? - Bob Lundy

Enough of this notion that fitted is too feminine. Your body is a beautiful thing, so accentuate it. Take a trip to your local reputable tailor and be sure to bring all of your voluminous threads along. This should include you suits, pants, jeans, shirts and if your tailor is Italian, everything else, too.

I like keeping my shirts untucked. Is this a no-no? - John Morse

Not to sound like your mother, but unless you're auditioning for a movie role as an American fraternity boy, always tuck your shirt in. T-shirts and Polo's are optional. Oxfords and dress shirts are not.

Should my socks always match my suit? - Carl Ducet

We can't stress this one enough. If you're wearing a brown suit, your socks should - wait for it - follow suit. Navy? Black? Grey? It goes the same for all of them. And if you're a fan of argyle socks, make sure they keep at least one hue in tune with your suit, otherwise you'll look like Pee Wee Herman on a good day.

I'm sick of my leather wingtips and summer is too hot for my boots. How can I add more zest to my footwear? - Mario Tucci

Firstly, keep those mangled cross trainers by the doorstep for quick exits and gym days. It behooves you to know the classics of casual kicks that urban men have come to adore since the 50's. For the sleek street look, a nice white pair of Adidas Stan Smiths is a great start. Likewise, white or black Lacostes will go with almost everything including dark and light denim jeans, black blazers and linen summer suits in tan or beige. In other words - when going casual, befriend the tennis sneaker.

To bejewel, or not to bejewel? This is my question. - Sam Brooks

This isn't 1977 and you are not part of the Gambino family, so take that gold chain that's sitting on top of your T-shirt and tuck it in. In terms of wrist wear, the skinnier the bracelet, the better it'll look. Rings look very dapper too, especially simple silver and gold bands. But when you've got one for every finger, you're just going to look plain silly. Keep the pinky iced - and stop there.
